Working with the Blackmagic Ursa Mini 4k

Hello all!

I wanted to do a quick write up on my work with the Blackmagic Ursa Mini 4k. My plan is to go more in depth with each post, but for now I'll keep this one light.

I personally own two Blackmagic Ursa Mini's, one 4k EF model and one 4.6k PL model. These cameras are what I do 90% of my work on.

This past Sunday I was helping out a new writer/director on a short scene. The project was more of an actor reel piece to showcase their talents. The budget was very low, but that provided a challenge for me as the DP. I used my Ursa Mini 4k camera with a Canon 24-105 F4 lens on this. Since we had a limited time schedule due to the location, I opted for the zoom to keep things moving. It was a hot sunny day and the entire scene was an exterior.

This was also an opportunity for me to test their new 4.0 firmware on a narrative project. I'll blog about that in another post!

Here are some quickly graded still frames from the project.
